John E. Gormley
From Summit Hill, Pennsylvania, Mr. Gormley received his B.A. in political science from Susquehanna University in 1971 and his J.D. from Duquesne University in 1974.
A member of the State Bar of Nevada since 1979, he is also a member of the Pennsylvania Bar, as well as the United States Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit, the United States Court of Military Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court. His leadership qualities as one of the heads of the firm are enriched by his experience as a former captain of the United States Marine Corps in the JAG Division, where he gained extension motion and trial experience as a lead prosecutor and defense counsel.
Mr. Gormley is noted for his foresight, analysis and tenacity in trial preparation, and he has extensive experience in all aspects of civil litigation.
Beyond litigating in aspects of the firm’s practice, Mr. Gormley has emphasis in the areas of legal malpractice, products liability, construction defects, sexual and employment harassment, civil rights under 42 USC § 1983 and wrongful discharge. He has also been lead defense counsel in highly sensitive and nationally known cases, including the United States Navy Tailhook Association litigation in the Federal Court for the District of Nevada.
Mr. Gormley is certified as a civil trial advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy and is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates. Mr. Gormley has an ongoing concern for education and has been actively involved with youth athletics and other school-related activities. He freely donates his time and experience to pro bono programs and several local charitable organizations.
